Inclusive Dance

In this two-day theoretical and practical workshop, participants will explore the key skills required to lead dance sessions for children with a wide range of developmental and intellectual disabilities including the autism spectrum, Asperger’s syndrome, and Down syndrome.

Aims

  • To provide teachers with appropriate content and strategies to interact with the special needs population in a dance learning environment
  • Discuss the teacher’s role and the importance of establishing clear expectations and goals
  • Explore ways to create a climate of inclusion in the classroom
  • To provide and discuss how to plan an inclusive dance program for special needs schools and dance institutions
