The Royal Academy of Dance offers a number of full-time and part-time programs by a combination of modes including distance learning as well as study at the RAD headquarters in London.

In the United States, the Royal Academy of Dance provides the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program (CBTS), which is delivered primarily by distance learning. It is designed to meet the needs of those who wish to become certified Registered Teachers of the Royal Academy of Dance.

The program is completed in 5 modules to the value of 120 credits on the UK educational framework, which is equivalent to the first year of a degree program. The modules include CBTS401 Observation of Teaching, CBTS402 Health, Safety and Professional Responsibilities, CBTS403 Ballet and Teaching: Knowledge and Understanding, CBTS404 Practical Teaching, and CBTS405 Professional Portfolio. These modules are taken through part-time study over two years. Students are required to attend a ten day intensive study period in Year 1.

Successful students will be awarded the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies and will be eligible for Associate Teacher status which grants permission to enter candidates for examinations.
